1 lb. ground meat (beef or turkey)
2 large carrots peeled and cut into match stick
1 1/2 cups red onion
1 cup chopped walnuts/ or 1 can chopped water chestnuts
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoon fish sauce
2 teaspoon soy sauce (I use tamari)
1 cup cilantro roughly chopped
1 cup walnuts chopped Or one can chopped water chestnuts
1 teaspoon ginger powder
2 large garlic cloves chopped
6 oz. mango chutney
6-8 romaine or bib lettuce leaves
salt to taste
1) Heat oil in a medium – high pan
2) Saute onions and carrots for 5 minutes, salt
3)Add meat. Break up with a wooden spoon. Brown meat, drain fat.
4)Add ginger powder, fish and soy sauce, cayenne and black ppr. mango chutney. Reduce heat to medium. Heat until combined, then add cilantro.
5)Scoop meat mixture into lettuce leaves
Garnish with chopped walnuts or water chestnuts
Serve with brown rice
